The DIN 57710-13 ball test standard is a German standard that specifies the testing procedures and requirements for lighting fixtures with operating voltages below 1000 volts to ensure their safety against ball throws in indoor sports facilities.
The standard specifies the use of a handball as the projectile, which is launched at the luminaire from three different directions at a speed of around 60 km/h (37 mph). The luminaire undergoes a total of 36 impacts, with 12 from each direction.
