The term ‘high bay lighting’ refers to the positioning of the luminaires, and as such it covers a broad and flexible range of lamp types and fittings. As a rule of thumb, high bay light is best for lighting large space with every high ceiling, where the floor-to-ceiling height measures 15 feet or taller.
According to the lighting function, it can be divided into two kinds of lighting - general lighting and partly lighting. General lighting is usually evenly arranged above the work site or on the side walls, illuminating the entire work surface. Partly lighting is a kind of luminaire to improve the brightness of a working part, its role is to supplement the basis lighting. The main difference of high bay lights and low bay lights is the ceiling height. From their name, it is not difficult to understand that high bay lights are designed to illuminate large spaces with higher ceiling while low bay lights are more suitable for the space with lower ceiling. High bay lights can work with ceiling between 15 and 45 feet high. But low bay light are used for ceilings about 12 to 20 feet high above the floor. The other difference between high bay lights and low bay lights is the light spread. Since the higher distance from floor, high nay lights are usually fitted with reflectors to ensure the light spreads down and out in an appointed way. Besides, high bay light also have higher lumen output to compensate the long distance to the floor.
