When passing by an outdoor sports field, pedestrians may feel uncomfortable and easily distracted due to the glare of distant lights. Additionally, neighbors may complain about light spilling into their houses. So, why does this happen?
Through the study of AGC, we have discovered that most sport lighting fixtures are designed with symmetric optics, which require adjusting the installation angle to light up the central area, enhancing uniformity and light intensity. However, if the elevation angle is too high and lacks proper shielding, upward light and glare may be produced, causing light pollution and waste. To avoid these issues, we recommend choosing asymmetric optics and horizontal installation for an unsheltered sports field surrounded by residential areas. Asymmetric optics offer numerous advantages. It is the effective solution for light pollution.
