What Should We Care About for the LED Fixture in Food&Beverage Factory?

Ivy Zhao

As we know, food processing environments often involve grease, oil, smoke, dust or steam. For such harshest commercial and industrial environments, it does require a special design luminaries which is IP66 dust tight and waterproof. Another important thing is please do remember that the light used at the food processing factory must withstand the chemically power washing daily with up to 1600 psi.

For a normal fixture without any special design or specification, it will be easily damaged in such an application. See below picture of one of the client's comments that the normal lighting fittings installed at a hog and sheep processing facility for several months are heavily damaged by the high pressure hot water and sanitation chemicals.

Then how do you solve this problem in such an application?

First, a very thick acrylic lens will be adopted to deal with the chemicals. Over time, the lens will break down no matter what, so the thicker the better.

Second, such a fixture should have a special design to make sure the light is robust and the structure will not be damaged by the high-pressure hot water.

AGC Lighting's special design light, LHB19, is suitable for the food and beverage factory. The luminary can help create a safe, sanitary, and usable environment while providing effective and energy-efficient solutions for our food processing customers.
