Why customers like RGBW lighting fixtures for their architectures?

Well, to get to that let’s first understand what is RGBW and what are the differences between RGBW and RGB.

what is RGB

The RGB color mode is a color standard in the industry. RGB is the color representing the three channels of red, green and blue. This standard includes almost all the colors that human vision can perceive. It is one of the most widely used color systems at present. Various colors can be obtained by superimposing red (R), green (G), and blue (B) on each other. The RGB mode color system is widely used, such as lamps, mobile phones, computers, TVs, LED displays and many other industries.

what is RGBW

While for RGBW, there’s one more pixel W is added on the basis of the original RGB three primary colors to form a RGBW four-color pixel. RGBW has two technical advantages: the first is that the power consumption of the same brightness is lower, and the second is that the same power consumption can achieve higher brightness. Therefore, lighting manufacturers are also very interested in this technology, because it fundamentally reduces the power consumption of LED lamp beads, and the brightness can reach the level of power consumption required before. It can greatly reduce power consumption and effectively save power resources.

RGBW has better light transmittance than RGB, and white pixels do not absorb a certain amount of light like RGB, so the light efficiency will be improved to a certain extent.

AGC Lighting is one of the manufacturers who has been investing in this technology, we have designed and released several RGBW lighting fixtures like FL39, FL56 and FL11 RGBW version, etc. More are coming.

Apart from the beautiful and vibrant colors, another important reason why customers like RGBW lighting fixtures for their architectures is that they support RDM DMX smart control.

What is RDM and DMX then?

Well, first of all you need to know that both RDM and DMX are digital protocols. RDM is short for Remote Device Management which is a protocol that sits on top of the DMX data standard for lighting control. While DMX is a unidirectional protocol which means that the data flows in one direction – from the control desk to the lights.

With the addition of RDM, the DMX512 system becomes a bi-directional (half-duplex) system. The controller is able to send out a question to devices on the wire, which can then respond with an answer.

RDM command

All of AGC’s RGBW fixtures are supporting RDM DMX. While you can find various RDM DMX controllers in market, so long as you know how to programme the RGBW lights, you’ll get lots of lighting colors and performances from our lights for your architectures.

However if you don’t know programming, please don’t worry yet because AGC Lighting would always be happy to help you. Just send us details of your project and targeted lighting performance, we’ll have the right solution delivered.
